Why do humans love dogs?

Dogs

we’ve got so many terms relating to them – a tiny dog is a pupper, an older one is a doggo. They’re both good bois and occasionally they do a mlem and they do themselves a scare. They boop EVERYTHING with their cute noses.

we LOVE them.

Turns out there’s a scientific reason to why we love them.

And why they love us.

Our world and their world swirled together long ago like two different shades of paint. Long ago, dogs would hunt for us and in return, we’d give them food and keep them warm. This relationship began a long time ago, no one knows exactly when, but the estimate is about 14,000 years ago. We only know this because we’ve found remains of dogs and humans buried together. That’s right, buried.

Personally, I believe we love dogs for the same reason we love anything. They make us happy! Love is a human emotion caused by a chemical imbalance of serotonin (a happy hormone) in the brain. simply put, interacting with dogs causes this chemical imbalance of serotonin in our brains, therefore, we love dogs.

So if you’re having a bad day, pick up a dog and play with it for a while. It really helps!

that’s all, have a great day! <3
